Is the $VIX preparing for battle?

At risk of sounding like one of those fringe people claiming Elvis is still alive I boldly proclaim the $VIX is alive and well. He may be small and squirrelly at the moment, but there are subtle signs he may be preparing for battle. Well, seeing him all armored up may be a hint ūüėČ Fact is the $VIX has been in a dormant phase for much of the QE […]

Boxcar Market

When I was younger and much prettier, well younger anyways, I used to roam through the vast expanses of the American Southwest on motorcycle. Quite the visual experience as this land is so alien compared to much else on the planet. The canyon lands of Arizona and Utah are simply amazing. Part of these lands haven’t really changed all that much and when you ride through Flagstaff in northern Arizona […]

Correction About To Be Over?

Markets are sending conflicting signals with some indices oversold and some not. Per my earlier post 2 days ago tech certainly looked to be ready for a bounce and we saw some of this yesterday. The weekly $NYSI is of particular interest: While not completely oversold yet it sure is heading in this direction and quickly so. One could certainly imagine one more hard low this week or next and […]

The Goldman StairMaster

It’s been an entirely uninspiring year for $GS. The recent $SPX spike to new highs left it far behind and clearly has displayed¬†a negative divergence with consequences since then. The current pattern of stairs reeks of distribution, so what’s up over at $GS? The recent pattern may be indicative of an imminent bounce, yet I doubt markets can sustain any large rally without some more convincing strength in the financials. […]

NFLX Confluence

I suppose anyone short $NFLX in January was just crushed by that monster runaway gap up. Well the stock¬†closed it yesterday as the 200MA caught up to the same area. That‚Äôs powerful technical confluence hence playing long may be a favorable risk/reward set-up. Yet the MACD still squarely points down and the selling along¬†the¬†daily 5 EMA continues. Note how closely $NFLX tags its¬†5EMA almost every single day. For now a […]

Tech Ready to Bounce?

Markets are bouncing a bit here after $SPY touched its 50MA. A quick scan of some of the recent devastation in tech land raises the question: Is tech ready to bounce from oversold levels? Especially the MoMo space has seen a brutal 5 to 6 weeks of nothing but selling which seems to amount to liquidation. Either markets bounce from here or they are in larger trouble than anyone is […]

10 year journey

Long term I’m a firm believer in higher rates and have been trading the 10 year via $TYM futures for a bounce play as of late, but I exited for a nice profit ahead of NFP last week. The reason:¬†This chart is starting to look¬†like a bear flag to me. So I’m holding off for now until I have more clarity:
